On the eve of Shabbat Shalom, dear Scouts, starting this week for three Shabbats, our sages corrected to utter words of calamity and rebuke to the people of Israel on Shabbat after the reading of the Torah, And because there is special importance and attention to these haftarahs,
Therefore, even if Rosh Chodesh falls on Shabbat, no one dies in the matter of the month but in matters of calamity. These days are called among the Egyptians who rejoice in them and multiply in sorrow and weeping over the destruction of the Temple. And from these three haftarahs we will learn what we must strengthen in the work of God. The first haftarah is “the words of Jeremiah” – a hint to keep your mouth shut, and to stay away from forbidden speech. The second haftarah is “Hear the word of the Lord” – to imply to the ears of forbidden things. The third haftarah is “Isaiah’s vision” – a hint to keep the poor from forbidden things, and to sanctify them with holy and pure sights. As we are strengthened in these three matters, we will be privileged to be a worthy vessel to receive the Messiah of our righteousness and to see the Redeemer coming soon in our day, Amen.
